An online festival broadcast to south-west residents last night was music to the ears of gig-lovers suffering from the coronavirus shutdown. Close to 20 musicians with ties to the south-west performed for Get Around Warrnambool - Lounge Feston Saturday night [i.e Easter Saturday April 11th April 2020]. The pre-recorded shows included performances from 4 Wide, Cooper Lower, Flynn Gurry, Gabby Steel, Glenn Kelly, Jason Bull, Kayla Dwyer, Lousie Ryan, Mick Ferguson, Mitch and Jackson, Nancie Schipper, The Alamo, The Find Your Voice Choir, The Motorvators, Tom Richardson, Trev and Mel, Wade Northcott and Willnko. The festival played live online in three parts from 6pm, with Lounge Fest Part One totaling more than 21,000 views on the Warrnambool City Council Facebook site.
People took to WCC's Facebook to express their enjoyment and gratitude for the festival. "Great idea and a welcome relief. Thank you to all those involved in putting it together," one person said. "Music in the south-west is in great hands with all our young and talented artists. So good seeing them as part of Lounge Fest," another person said.
The concert was broadcast by the Warrnambool City Council, Coast FM and Fitz Media Productions.
