WARRNAMBOOL band Toejam may have only lost its vocalist last week, yet three potential replacements have already put their hands up for the job. After the group's vocalist Chris Pye left Warrnambool for Queensland recently the band planned to have a short hiatus before finding another singer, guitarist Wally Lynch said. The hiatus could be a little more short-lived than the remaining members planned, with a new vocalist imminent and plans to spread their wings a little further than the south-west. Lynch said the band wanted to widen its repertoire of original songs. The band has previously played predominantly covers. He said Toejam also planned to travel and perform further afield, at places like Geelong or Ballarat, where it was easier to secure a gig on the strength of original material than in Warrnambool.

AFTER six months of silence, Warrnambool band Toejam will return to the scene with a gig at The Grand tomorrow night featuring former Motorvators drummer John Emry. The band may have been around for four years but it’s had its share of changes. After the last remaining original member bass player Adam Bartlett left at the beginning of this year the band’s lineup was completely renewed. But guitarist Wally Lynch, who joined the band only a few months after it was formed, said they’re still playing the same sort of sounds.

WARRNAMBOOL band Toejam will return to the stage after a three-month absence at tonight’s gig at the Gallery nightclub. Guitarist Wally Lynch said the band was forced to take the break because of illness, but the time off stage has not been wasted. Members have used the break to work on original material and tonight’s performance will feature some of those new original songs. Toejam will be joined on the line-up by Its Your Thing, Paul Smith and a Warrnambool band with some acoustic tracks between brackets.
