"Live from the 3WAY Studio"
WHEN Warrnambool’s community radio station opened its doors for a live music performance yesterday listeners tuned in across Australia and overseas. Internet streaming put the 3WAY-FM programs within reach of a global audience as well as dozens of local community fans who came into the Hyland Street studios. Five music groups took turns at the microphones including internationally-recognised Shane Howard. “There was a good buzz through the day and (we) signed up new members,” station president Peter Struth said. “Shane (Howard) was very engaging with the audience. We’ll do another open day in November.” Compilation CDs of the Live and Local performances yesterday and last November will be produced following strong demand for CDs from the March 2014 open-day event. The internet streaming link was established earlier this month as a “temporary” measure when the station’s transmitter broke down and it has proved more effective than expected.
