STOPPING TRAFFIC: David Hodgson, Russ Goodear, Jeff Scimonello and Lucas Reid are looking forward to celebrating all things American music.
THE biggest day on the American calendar has sparked a musical celebration in Warrnambool. Wednesday, July 4, is American Independence Day, marking the Declaration of Independence from the British Empire in 1776, and the birth of the United States of America. Independence Day in Warrnambool will centre around American music and the influence it has had on musicians in the south-west. Warrnambool musician Russ Goodear will be joined by a host of friends on stage to play a show at The Cally Hotel. Goodear is promising an entertaining evening. “We all grew up with American music so the fourth of July is a good day to reflect on that,” Goodear said. “Through American folk and blues, we learnt so much about music and we are looking forward to playing some of our favourite tunes. “We will be calling some special guests up onto stage as well so it will be a fun night.” The night will also include an American trivia section, with questions focusing on songs with American cities as their subject.
