A PAIR of talented sisters are looking forward to getting back on stage in front of a home-town audience this weekend. Sophie and Celeste Clabburn make up the country music act The Sunny Cowgirls. Born in Hamilton and raised on a sheep property at Dunkeld, the Clabburn girls have gone on to carve a name for themselves as one of Australia’s best known country bands. Since forming in 2005, the Sunny Cowgirls have put out seven studio albums, as well as live and greatest hits compilations, and have amassed over 83,000 likes on Facebook. Now based in Perth, the Sunny Cowgirls will be back home this weekend, playing a show at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre on Saturday night. Sharing the stage with The Sunny Cowgirls will be Sara Storer. The Hamilton show is part of a nation-wide tour the two acts are embarking on together. Celeste Clabburn said she was looking forward to coming back to Hamilton. “I think the last time we played in Hamilton was about four years ago,” she said. “We are really excited to be coming back, we still have a lot of friends here and it is always nice to catch up.” The Sunny Cowgirls have not only reached musical highs in Australia, but have left their stamp on the country music capital of the world, Nashville, Tennessee, where they recorded an album. Celeste said the popularity of country music the world over keeps playing live and recording exciting ventures. “We are really happy with our sound, we have stayed true to the music we love,” she said. “This tour is an amazing opportunity for us to play with someone as talented as Sara. It really freshens up our show and it has been great fun, we are excited about the rest of the tour.”
