THEATRICAL: Cast members at rehearsals for Warrnambool College's Strictly Ballroom the Musical production, which will be performed in August.

AUGUST is shaping as a bumper month for theatre in Warrnambool, with local takes on two classic stage shows. Warrnambool College will present Strictly Ballroom the Musical on August 2-3 at the Lighthouse Theatre. While there will be plenty of talent on stage, there is also a well-qualified team assembled off stage. Opera singer Louise Keast is vocal director, while Kerry Ziegeler, Meg Lumsden and Kristyn Cram are preparing the script, which is said to pay homage to “daggy, yet endearing, Aussie idiocies”.  Classic songs to be performed in the show include Love is in the Air and Time after Time. Work has also begun on Emmanuel College’s production of Footloose. Cast and crew are working hard on bringing the 1980s story to life. Shows are scheduled at the Lighthouse Theatre for August 16-18. More than 80 students from all year levels at the college will be part of the Footloose production. Tickets for both shows are on sale now at the Lighthouse Theatre.
