Dave Burgess

Dave Burgess
Originally from Canberra, Dave moved to Warrnambool 16 years ago to try to become a professional musician.  One of his many bands was the Atom Splitters. After many years practice, a university degree, two kids and many soul destroying jobs, things came together. Currently, Dave teaches music in Warrnambool and plays pubs, clubs and weddings. At the end of 2009, Dave released his first album of original material. 'Easy Street' which touched on styles of R'n'B, blues and swing that have inspired him. Dave's second album, 'Hurry Slowly', was launched in November 2012 and explores more musical styles including reggae, blues, country, and a whole heap of 'funk' including 12 original songs all written by Dave himself. In 016 he released his third album Set like stone.

Dave Burgess resides in Warrnambool of South West Victoria, and when he isn't teaching his awesome talent at Guitar playing to College Students, or going to the Gym at Aqua Zone, or playing in his band at local hotels, and Fletcher Jones Gardens in the Summertime Sunday Blues afternoons, he is writing and recording his originals, which can be found on his latest album,'SET LIKE STONE' The Dave Burgess Band and a former release you can find 'hurry slowly' on CD Baby.com/Dave Burgess. Dave's music draws on many of the classic styling of guitar playing, although largely steeped in Blues, the music incorporates Classic RnB, Soul, Blues, Country, Reggae, Funk and Groove.  "Why just play one style of music" Dave says...Although the music of this accomplished guitar player lifts you up and makes you feel good, it does not compromise or get in the way of the songs that describe the human condition and draws you in. The Lyrics connect with you and make you feel like you are having a conversation with him. Songs of love and loss, getting up after life knocks you down, money and the lack thereof, and the benefits of hindsight make for great universal themes that people relate to. The Dave Burgess Band have gained a large following for their dynamic performances and musicianship with Tim Conlan - Bass Player, and Raff Marino - Drummer, the rhythm section is deeply groovy. The three piece powerhouse of genre hopping, foot stomping, musical explorers have been blazing the stages of Victoria's music festivals and will soon hit the stage in their local town at- THE LOFT for AROCKALYPSE held Friday June 8th - Sunday 10th. Dave Burgess Band will be playing on the Sunday at the festival. South West Sounds were lucky to see Dave Burgess Band perform at St Brigid's Blues & Roots Festival held in January in 2018 at Crossley . Such professional and brilliant players, groovy, blues music and a soulful smooth voice Dave has, influenced by musicians like East Coast band, 'Bondi Cigars', Dave Burgess still has his own unique sound unlike any other blues Artists.  Dave is a friendly down to earth bloke, I'm sure he would love to have a chat to you after his set anytime, and you may be able to purchase his CD from him too !
