Narelle Sharp
Narelle Sharp is a singer/songwriter from the Port Fairy area who participated in one of the TAFE Music Industry skills courses. As a songwriter she says she likes to find a subject and write a story from it. One of her compositions (Anders Christian Terjesen) is about a Norwegian lad who jumped ship at Geelong and married a Port Fairy girl. The song "Run amuck" was written in her later teenage years about a friend who was using hard drugs, although there are references that can be generalised to all of us in society that are attracted to poisons. The the original subject of the song is now a father of 3 and a grandfather, so there is a happy ending in real life. The arranging and recording was done by Don Stewart (of Dalriada fame). The music was initially recorded for a "creation" song written by Narelle and performed by children at St.Patrick's Port Fairy. The backing track was melded to the alternate lyrics.
