John Anscombe

John Anscombe has been a country music singer in South West Victoria for many years, both as a soloist and a member of the "Rubber band". He is one of the leading members of the "Warrnambool and District Country Music Group". This group was formed by a group of friends in 2005 and holds concerts at the Warrnambool City Memorial Bowls Club on the the third Sunday of every month. In 2016 various members of the group put together a compilation CD of 19 songs. The song "Things Are Not the Same on the Land" won Bill Chambers the Best Song of the Year Award from the CMAA (Country Music Association of Australia) after Slim Dusty recorded it in 1992.
