Sleevehearts

The Sleevehearts is the name of a band formed in Warrnambool in 2016. The members (Tony Peel, Marty Lemmens, and Bryan Keilor-Reid are veteran musicians who have previously been in bands as diverse as Breathing in Breathing Out, Kaleidico and Fun City). The launch date for their debut CD "Tantamount" was 28th Jan. 2017. Bryan's name does not appear on the CD but instead Charles Leslie Box is listed. Charles Leslie Box is his alter-ego performance name. His middle name is Leslie & for some reason his dad nicknamed him Charles, thus Charles Leslie. When his wife Jen died he went thru' some very dark days & this other persona Charles Leslie Box arrived and helped him write a truckload of songs & verse. It helped him deal with where he was & gave him purpose. The Box part is him trying to find humour in the situation (The Leslie Rotating Tremolo Speaker System - sometimes known as the Leslie Box - is named after its inventor, Donald Leslie. Leslie began working in the late 1930s to get a speaker for a Hammond organ that had a closer emulation of a pipe or theatre organ). The Sleevehearts performed at the St. Brigid's Blues and Roots Festival on January 14th 2017 and describe their sound as 80s pop/rock.
