COUNTRY-BLUES act Louie And The Rustlers continue to go from strength to strength. Following on from successful stints at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Port Fairy Folk Festival, the south-west six-piece will launch its debut EP at the Caledonian Inn in Port Fairy Saturday night. Be Kind contains four original songs, written by vocalist Louise Clancey and rhythm guitarist Russ Goodear, and was recorded at Warrnambool's Motherlode Studios with producer Tony Peel. Goodear said the Caledonian Inn was the ideal place for the band to launch the debut disc. "We decided to launch it at the Stump because that's been like a home-base pub for us - we play there a lot." The night will feature some special guest performances from friends of the band, who will join them on stage for a few numbers, giving the gig a "concert feel", Goodear said. The band has also scored a high-profile support slot at the Brucknell Bash on May 10, where it will play alongside Lee and Tanya [sic] Kernaghan. Goodear said the six-piece was looking forward to playing at the event, which attracted crowds of about 2500 when Lee Kernaghan last performed there.
