On Sunday at the Lighthouse Theatre, Worm won the Warrnambool Push Start Battle of the Bands competition. The win has advanced Worm to the regional finals with the chance to move onto the state-wide showdown. Worm is made up of Dante Zawadzki-Colliton (vocals, guitar), Nathan McTaggert (drums) and Toby Bruce (bass). Dante, 16, is in year 11 at Emmanuel College, Nathan, 16, goes to Warrnambool College, and Toby, 17, is in year 12 at Hawkesdale P12 College. Dante said the band had humble beginnings. “We all do the VET music program at Emmanuel,” Dante said. “About five months ago, the VET class went on a trip and the three of us were thrown together and we had an hour to write a song. We came up with one and we have just kept going from there.” The band has written five original songs and plans to add to that body of work. (Warrnambool Standard -- May 23, 2017)
