Former VFL stars Ronnie Wearmouth, Ricky Barham and Michael Turner will be reunited tomorrow night at Port Fairy. But they will be trading in their football boots for a microphone and stage. Ronnie, former team-mate and partner in the Star of the West Hotel with Ricky, has been invited to sing at his former watering hole. The occasion is the 13th anniversary of the quaintly-named cowboy band the Dead Livers who eulogised the historic Port Fairy pub on record almost a decade ago. Star of the West was written by former Monivae College student Mick Schack who now fronts the Ryegrass Staggers and Yarpturk ramblers when not toiling as a librarian at the South West College of TAFE. The song has a lyric about Ronnie singing the Bob Dylan classic Knocking on Heaven's Door during the "5 am sessions at the Star of the West". And that's what Ronnie has been asked to repeat this weekend. Ronnie is now coach of Minyip in the Wimmera League
